A LITTLE GUIDANCE
Running Pace & Race Time Calculator guide
Estimate times for other distances by assuming the same average pace is maintained throughout.
How to use
- Enter the distance in kilometers.
- Enter elapsed hours, minutes and seconds.
- Review pace, average speed and proportional times for common race distances.
Worked example
- Input
- Enter a distance of 5 km and an elapsed time of 30 minutes.
- Result
- Pace is 6 minutes per kilometer and average speed is 10 km/h. At that pace, 10 km takes one hour.
Common questions
Does the estimated time predict an actual race result?
No. It is a direct distance-to-time proportion. Fatigue, elevation, weather and stops are not included.
Which half-marathon and marathon distances are used?
The distances are 21.0975 km and 42.195 km respectively, with the same average speed assumed throughout.
